About Haley
I’m a psychodynamic therapist based in Wellington, New Zealand.
I started my career as a lawyer but shifted into restorative justice early on, and have been working in that space ever since. I still facilitate and teach restorative justice practices here and overseas. That work of supporting people navigating experiences of harm and conflict has shaped how I understand people, relationships, harm, and healing.
My interest in psychotherapy is an extension of this work. I’m interested not only in what happened, but also in what lies underneath. While brief interventions can be powerful, I am drawn to the slower, gentler process that allows us to see the parts of ourselves that can stay hidden, that can shape how we experience life, our relationships, and ourselves.
I’m originally from the United States, and moved to Aotearoa in 2015 as a Fulbright Fellow for what was meant to be a 10-month research project. I’m still here more than ten years later.
I’m currently in advanced training in the Conversational Model of psychotherapy through the Australia and New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy. My style is warm, consistent, collaborative, and thoughtful. I tend to work well with people who are curious, open to reflection, willing to take their time, and comfortable with the odd joke here and there.
